Sustainability
I love nature, so I will do anything within my power to reduce my emissions, reduce waste and promote biodiversity. My first commitment as I start my artistic journey is that I became a member of 1% for The Planet Foundation. This means 1% of my yearly revenue will be donated towards organizations that protect the environment.

My CO2 emission achievements and goals
Scope 1
-
The heating in the building is still through gas. The owner of the building is preparing plans to change installations to more renewable options. As a temporary solution I put my own heaters barely on, as my kiln is on at least once a week and heats up the space plenty.
-
Firing ceramics in the electric kiln produces carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and sulfur. This is difficult to erase as it is the byproduct of the chemical process that ceramics goes through.
Scope 2
-
All electricity in the building I work in come from renewable energy. This is a great win as the biggest part of my emissions is from the electricity of firing my kiln.
-
I bicycle to work and for deliveries or work trips I use my electric car.
Scope 3
-
The clay I use comes from Germany. The mining for the material is done following strict EU regulations, however I don't have indepth knowledge on the companies processes unfortunately.
-
My glazes come from Germany and from the Netherlands. Again, do not have indepth knowledge on their processes. So definitely something to figure out in the future.
-
With all other materials and products I use in my studio I always prefer natural materials or if plastic is required I choose recycled plastic.
-
All my furniture in my studio is second hand or made out of waste. For example, my worktables are old fire-escape doors attached to old table legs.
